INDUSTRY ADVISOR Mr. BERNABÉ UNDA VISITED FAGOR AUTOMATION ESKORIATZA

Bernabé Unda, industry advisor of the Basque Government for Innovation, Commerce and Tourism, visited Fagor Automation's plant in Eskoriatza (Gipuzkoa, Spain) last Friday February 5th.

 

Mr. Bernabé Unda was received by Mr. José Miguel Arregi, vice-president of Mondragón Corporation; Mr. Aitor Irure, president of Fagor Automation and Mr. Pedro Ruiz de Aguirre, general manager of the plant, among other directors of the company. During his visit, He was shown several facilities of the cooperative (employee-owned) plant.

Fagor Automation has been manufacturing measurement and control systems for machine tools and other sectors for more than 25 years. Fagor Automation directors expressed to the industry advisor, their firm commitment to R&D projects for new products at a technological level and their bet on the internationalization of their markets as shown by the opening of their new branch offices in India and Russia.

Mr. Bernabé Unda had the opportunity to know in detail the research projects that involve the 80 research engineers of Fagor Automation's R&D center, AOTEK. European projects within the Séptimo Programa Marco (7SPM), domestic projects with the cooperation of the Optical department of the Complutense University in Madrid as well as projects of the Basque government in tight cooperation with technological centers like Ideko, Mondragón University, Ikerlan and Koniker among others.

Finally, the advisor visited in detail one of Fagor Automation's technologically most advanced plants like the glass engraving plant located in Eskoriatza (Gipuzkoa, Spain) and whose manufacturing conditions demand a high degree of control both in terms of mechanical and ambient stability.
