Description and objectives:

The HI-PREST project, financed within the HAZITEK program of the Basque Government is aimed at researching and developing technologies for a new generation of automated systems with ultra-precision sub-micrometers and high reliability and stability in critical applications and environments. It therefore proposed to make a substantial technological leap forward by developing new tools, equipment, process and constructive elements that provide greater performance at competitive prices.

In this project, one aspect is towards the development of manufacturing technologies that allow greater control of the critical performance of these systems. The integration of measurement systems with both mechanical elements and control algorithms and their interrelation with the actuation elements is another aspect that requires optimization and a differentiated approach.

The traditional constructive elements discarded for this type of systems can provide greater competitiveness trough the development of integration and interrelation protocols between the different elements of the system, providing a technological advantage.

The use of the elements derived from industrial equipment for space applications can provide greater competitiveness and performance, as well as allow the development of new business opportunities for our industrial fabric.

In this technological area, there are several products still in the consolidation phase in a market that is still small and limited by the capabilities of the technology rather than by user expectations.

Given the ambitious scope of the HI-PREST project, which will address multiple application technologies in different fields and sectors, it is essential to carry out the project in consortium with different companies specialized in each of their fields of activity, this favouring the transfer of knowledge between the different target applications.

The main objective of the HI-PREST project is the recognition of Euskadi as a reference in the design, development and manufacture of sub-micrometric precision and high stability mechanism in critical applications and environments for the new generation of advanced components and systems for the aerospace, robotics, health and machine tool sectors. In this way, the entire manufacturing value chain of this type of components will be trained, in order to turn the consortium partners into reference suppliers in the development of mechanism and components with high added value.

The final results of the project will overcome the limitations and challenges described above by creating new components and manufacturing techniques derived from the optimal combination of process and product.
