Description and objectives:

ALVARAVI project financed by the HAZITEK program is focuses on FAGOR AUTOMATION`’s commitment to technological diversification towards high added value markets, beyond machine tools.

In this way, the company’s strategy is oriented towards the penetration of new markets related to the Science Industry, with a clear objective of being present in the large technological infrastructures of the Europe of the future.

Being the high precision measurement, and with it, the angular optical pickup, a key technology in infrastructures such as particle accelerators, thermonuclear reactors or similar, and FAGOR AUTOMATION having a technological capacity and advanced Know-How in basic sciences that characterize this optical measurement, there is a great opportunity to diversify into new technological scenarios with high added value. This is a very technologically advanced market niche in which, for this reason, there are very few international players, being a sector of great interest due to its emergence and its high expected evolution in the coming years.

Although it is true that the requirements in this type of installations are radically different from those that FAGOR AUTOMATION usually finds in its conventional machine-tool business, thanks to this project, the company will be able to launch a new encoder oriented to this type of environment, characterized by HIGH VACUUM, RADIACTIVITY and VIBRATIONS environmental conditions.

In this way, the main objective of the project is the Design and Development of a new High Accuracy Angular Encoder, with Guaranteed Functionality, oriented to very special working environments (High Vacuum, Radioactivity and Vibrations).

In addition, and in view of the target applications, it must not be forgotten the design of the new product must comply with the demanding regulations and requirements for its future approval/certification in such special environments. As these are critical applications, any failure is unthinkable, so the new product must incorporate guaranteed functionality and redundancy specifications to ensure %100 compliance.
