Description and objectives:

The objective of the OPTICED project is to investigate the development of functionalities to optimize machining manufacturing process in order to reach a cero defect manufacturing. OPTICED proposes a comprehensive approach based on simulation, monitoring and data analisys to optimize manufacturing process in all phases of the development: design, ramp-up, production life cycle and adaptation to new requirements. The ultimate goal is for these users to increse their quality and reliability ratios, getting closer and closer to zero-defect manufacturiing.

The OPTICED project will focus its research on manufacturing processes of large components, where zero-defect manufacturing approach a critical importance due to its high unit cost, short series and environmental impatcs. To this end, four research areas will be addressed in an integrated way: the fundamental knowledge of the influence of the basic process parameters on the quality of the component, the monitoring of manufacturing process and the use of this information to control the processes in real time, the control of the quality of the part resulting from the manufacturing processes studied and the use of data recorded during the process in a more global way, integrating them with information relating to the design and quality control phase, with the aim of optimizing the production and optimizing simulation models, allowing the design and process control phases to be improved.

This comprehensive approach will materialized in new functionalities that will provide a reliable, accurate and global tool for the analisys and optimization of a production process, considering all the key variables and with the capacity to act with the agility required by each of the main phases of a manufacturing process.
