Description and objectives:

Precision and speed are key concepts of success that are increasingly in demand in the machine tool market, especially in sectors where achieving high quality parts with a minimum number of passes (precision) and at extreme speed is still a major challenge. This is the case, for example, of machines for engraving, moulding and/or cutting hard alloy materials (such as carbide), where existing solutions are far from those available for other markets where the materials worked are less demanding. The CNC, the intelligent heart of the machine tool, is where the incorporation of new damping techniques, advanced improvements in the control loop systems, new variables for the control and compensation of the machine operation, etc. derive directly in the improvement of the aforementioned key factors. All of this, also taking into account the latest advances available in terms of 4.0 technologies, with the incorporation of new strategies to provide the machine with greater intelligence and autonomy, as well as to help the plant manager in decision-making (greater productivity, improved energy efficiency, reduced manufacturing costs, etc.).

In addition to this, it is also challenging to manufacture a machine tool itself, with new mechanical designs that allow optimum productivity levels to be achieved at the target accuracies and speeds.

The general objective of the project for FAGOR AUTOMATION is the design and development of a new concept of intelligent CNC oriented to advanced moulding, engraving and cutting machines for hard alloy materials, with extreme speeds and precision, and also incorporating new functionalities related to Industry 4.0 in terms of intelligence, advanced data management and connectivity.
