Fagor Automation will participate in EMAF, the international trade fair for machines, equipment and services for industry to be held in Porto, Portugal, from December 1 to 4. EMAF is the largest Portuguese event for the industrial sector, where the latest challenges of Industry 4.0 will be addressed.
During the four days of the fair, Fagor Automation will make available to all visitors the latest technologies it has developed to continue offering its customers automation solutions that increase production capacity: Quercus, Series3 and Fagor Digital Suite.
Support and customer proximity
Teixeira Bicho, director of Fagor Automation in Portugal, emphasizes that the objective of Fagor Automation “is to provide Portuguese companies all the support and proximity, from pre-sales to after-sales, both for machine importers and for those who want to reconvert their old CNC machines”.
Fagor Automation has had two branches in Portugal since 1997, one in Leça da Palmeira to be close to the industry of the North and the moldmakers of Oliveira de Azeméis, and a branch in Marinha Grande, to be in the heart of the Portuguese moldmaking industry.
In Teixeira’s words, “proximity has been a differentiating factor in our growth, and being in Marinha Grande has allowed us, for example, to enjoy a connection with higher education and to be with the molders, to learn with them and develop CNC software, directed to their needs, besides allowing us to test and divulge the 5-axis machining on the CNC machine that IPL has with Fagor”.
Fagor Automation’s big differentiating factor in Portugal has been the fact that it has fostered the conditions for the (re)birth of domestic manufacturers of CNC machine tools for chip removal, which was an industry that did not exist in 1997. “At that time, nobody in Portugal felt comfortable installing a CNC, due to the lack of support from multinational companies such as Fagor Automation, which did not consider Portugal in its customer map. It was thanks to the mold industry, due to the need to reconvert machines (remove obsolete CNCs and install the current ones) and the increase in machine tool consumption, that the need for companies specialized in the CNC area began to be felt, and this is where Fagor Automation entered as a pioneer.”
Portugal, on the worldwide map
After the road travelled during these years, “now Portugal is already on the worldwide map of manufacturers of metal machining solutions, which is a source of pride for us and gives us energy to continue encouraging the emergence of more national OEMs”, Teixeira emphasized.
During these almost 25 years, more than 1,000 customers have used Fagor Automation’s technology and services in Portugal. Technical assistance and advice, software and hardware development and the training of technicians are the most outstanding features of Fagor Automation in Portugal, which has allowed “to provide our customers with the most advanced technology, a true state of the art, without which it would not be possible to manufacture the most varied components for the automotive, aeronautics, and space industries, among others“.
Fagor Automation in Portugal is the market leader in the supply of CNCs to OEMs of metal cutting machine tools, so “it is essential to train and support those who are our reason for being, that is, our customers, who enjoy Fagor Automation technology (importers and users), who believe that we will do everything possible to make their machines produce better, with quality and in less time”, highlighted Teixeira.
The technological advances that Fagor Automation has made in recent times allow our customers to obtain all those benefits that the director of Fagor Automation in Portugal has underlined. Therefore, we invite you all to visit us at the EMAF fair.
